This diagram shows the cracks in the original concrete structure and how thick their openings are. A study done by the Guggenheim remodeling team.

La construcción del proyecto fue realizada por niveles, utilizando muros curvos muros inclinados, techos  con ángulo no horizontales. La estructura del espiral gradualmente incrementa de radio en cada nivel, hasta llegar a la cubierta en donde se reduce nuevamente. 

Su diseño extravagante forzó a que se utilizaran nuevos alcances o métodos constructivos para poder concluir la obra, muchos conocen esta obra como arte pura tanto como escultura y como arquitectura.
